PATINA | REBUILT | CHASSIS No. 700
PATINA | REBUILT | CHASSIS No. 700
Chassis number 700, one of the very first Series IIs ever built. Certified chassis 700. Original paint, chassis and engine, quite possible the most special series land rover we have seen?
In 1958 Land Rover marked its tenth anniversary with an all-new car: the Series II. This is one of the first of them — certified chassis number 700, with the paperwork to prove it.
The rarity isn’t only in the early build. It’s in how much of the original car is still here. Original paint. Original chassis. Original engine. Even the bulkhead is the 1958 item it was born with — the first thing to rot on these Land Rovers, and the hardest to find still honest. All of it backed by a thick history file that travels with the car.
It’s had a full mechanical rebuild, with nearly every component kept original in the process. We’ve added new galvanised capping, custom leather seats, fresh wheels and carpets – every original part we took off has been kept. Nothing discarded.
What you’re left with is a Land Rover that wears its age honestly. The patina is real, earned over 68 years, and it’s the sort you can’t order new or fake convincingly. But this is no static restoration. It is one of the best driving series land rovers we have had.
First-year, original, certified, and sorted. Cars like this don’t surface often.
