Land Rover Series IIa 88” Petrol, fully restored including a bare metal repaint in Pastel Green LRC005.
Built in October 1962 and sold by Henlys Limited of London in January 1963, being first registered in Bournemouth.
Engine:
2521****G. I had the cylinders rebored to .040 and .020 skimmed off the block. New pistons, rings, standard size big end and crank bearings. Front and rear crank seals have been replaced, as have all gaskets.
The oil pump was removed, cleaned, and inspected.
The head has had valve seats lapped and new stem seals.
All repainted and a new fuel pump fitted.
The carburetor has been replaced with a Weber 25, and set up correctly.
Full service including oil & filter, plugs, leads, cap, rotor arm, points, and condenser.
Additionally, the engine and all surrounding areas have been restored.
Underside & Suspension:
Chassis: 2410****a has had a new rear half done well and is within 4mm of specs when measured. I replaced one bulkhead outrigger and one fuel tank outrigger.
The chassis has been stripped to bare metal and repainted with Manor Zinc Phosphate Primer and Manor Chassis Black. Dinitrol Cavity Wax has been sprayed inside the chassis with a tube and a coat of Dinitrol 4941 applied on the outside.
Rear Axle – 24121869A / Front – 24113918A, both have had new seals, gaskets, and hub bearings. The rear axle has had new stub axle races. New swivel seals on the front. Both have been stripped back to bare metal and repainted with Manor zinc phosphate primer and chassis black paint.
The differentials are in good condition with little slop and hardly any wear on the crown or pinion.
Prop Shafts: The prop shafts have been repainted and greased and have no play in the u- joints.
Suspension: New shocks have been fitted and the springs were stripped, cleaned, greased, and reassembled.
Gearbox: 25137097b didn’t require any attention, so we simply serviced, detailed the outside, and fitted a new ball.
New, zinc plates upper and lower shock absorber bolts, front and rear spring bolts, shackle plates, and U bowls have been fitted all around. These can’t be seen from the studio images as they were fitted afterward.
Bodywork:
The bodywork has had a complete bare metal repaint in Pastel Green LRC005, including outside, inside, engine bay, and underside.
The doors and floor panels are new.
The seatbox is in fairly good shape and the radiator panel is in great condition.
Bulkhead: New footwells, pillars, and feet have been fitted. Rust converter and Dinitrol cavity wax sprayed inside. Painted with Manor zinc phosphate primer and deep bronze green coach enamel.
Other items:
Steering column: Stripped, cleaned, painted, and reassembled with new bearings, grease, and gaskets.
Wiring: Replaced with new Autosparks loom. Exhaust: Replaced with a new exhaust.
Brakes: All brake lines have been replaced along with new master and slave cylinders and shoes.
Clutch: New 9.5” friction plate and pressure plate along with new master and slave cylinder and lines.
Hood: Exmoor Trim in sand and new frame/hood sticks.
Seats: A new set of standard seats have been fitted and seat rails stripped and repainted. Radiator: Working perfectly well without any leaks.
Lights: Headlights are sealed beam with new bowls and loom. Sidelights, indicators, and brake lights are new.
This vehicle also comes with a heritage certificate. Summary of build 015
Build 015 offers its new custodian the ability to run around with “The Look” but retains the option of easily returning to a stock/period finish if so desired.
