An exceptional, collector grade donor was the basis for build 14.
We were lucky to source a just finished, meticulous nut and bolt rebuild Including a new galvanised Chassis and Bulkhead.
Basis of the build:
The previous owner commissioned a standard rebuild with a renowned Series Land Rover restorer. The right money was spent in the right places and it shows. These are the perfect donors for project 88’ especially when the chassis and bulkhead are replaced with a new Galvanised chassis from Richard’s Chassis and a brand new bulkhead made by Dave Marsh to original specification was mated. The bulkhead was coated with zinc prior to painting to ensure longevity. All original capping’s and as many other parts possible were regalvanised.
Doors, sills front radiator panel and the front wing side and front panels were replaced with new components, as were the floor panels, sections of the seat box and the rear panels on the rear tub. These where all supplied by Paint Man Panels.
Professionally painted in Deep Bronze green. Other items had been painted in gloss black.
Wiring loom was replaced and supplied from Autosparks.
Axles had been fully stripped and refurbished renewing all bearings and brake components.
Steering relay was renewed along with all steering joints and the steering box/column was also overhauled and painted.
Gear/transfer box was also stripped and overhauled.
Engine was overhauled and recently service. It starts, runs and drives as it should. A little smoke when it starts up as expected but clears after a few minutes and runs very smoothly.
All of the cosmetic trim has also been replaced and / or re conditioned. New premium front seats and rear seats.
The car sits – as all our Project 88’s do – with our wheel and tyre combination but the factory correct Michelins are retained. The detail is simply too extensive to list, as well as ALL the new, correct parts fitted.
Build fourteen offers its new custodian the ability to run around with “The Look” but retains the option of easily returning to a stock / period finish if so desired.

Interest in these cars grows exponentially year on year which supports their capital appreciation. A wider market and limited availability of good cars should ensure a safe bet for your money. Certainly more fun than wine, property or gold… OK maybe wine can be fun too.
