ABOUT THE MODEL:

This is a first year of production model, sought after and rare. Many of the components were carried over from a Series 1 vehicle, making this the most collectible Series 2/2A model available.

THE RESTORATION:

Unlike most of our builds, we have taken a different approach with this one (how could we not). Keeping as many items original as we could and maintaining the ultra-cool patina across the car, we ensured the car was structurally sound and mechanically ‘turn key’.

• Original chassis in superb condition.
• Original bulkhead in great condition, although the driver’s footwell has been replaced.
• All brakes completely renewed.
• Full rewire with Autosparks loom.
• New clutch and hydraulics renewed in ’22.
• New petrol tank.
• New tyres on refurbished wheels (x5).
• Original engine rebuilt (with photos).
• Very tidy rear tub that has clearly seen very little use.
• New swivel joints and wheel bearings.
• Steering system all refurbished or renewed.
• All new lights with period-correct lenses.
• New radiator, as the old one needed re-coring. The original (with the 1958 date stamp) is available if the new owner wants to re-core and replace it. Water pump and thermostat were changed at the same time.
• A rich history file, brochures, and Heritage certificate come with this vehicle.

STYLE THIS SERIES

USY offers its new custodian the ability to run around with “The Look” but retains the option of easily returning to a stock/period finish if so desired.

RUNNING COSTS AND OWNERSHIP RETURNS

Each PROJECT 88 is MoT exempt, ULEZ compliant, and tax exempt.

Interest in these cars grows exponentially year on year, which supports their capital appreciation. A wider market and limited availability of good cars should ensure a safe bet for your money. Certainly more fun than wine, property, or gold… OK, maybe wine can be fun too.
